What becomes possible when you truly understand your child.
- Starting your morning without feeling rushed, stressed, or on edge. Getting out the door without it turning into a battle.
- Seeing a meltdown coming and knowing exactly how to handle it. Responding with confidence instead of second-guessing yourself.
- After school not feeling like the hardest part of your day. Your child having a safe way to release everything they've been holding in.
- Bedtime that feels more connected and less exhausting. Meals that feel calmer, even if they're not perfect.
- Understanding your child in a way that finally makes things make sense, for both of you.
- Your child feeling safer, more supported, and less overwhelmed because you feel more confident.
This is for you if...
- You're parenting a neurodivergent child and most days feel like you're just surviving
- You've tried behavior charts, rewards, and consequences and nothing sticks
- You've read the books, followed the accounts, and still find yourself Googling at 11pm
- Mornings feel like a battle, and by bedtime you're exhausted and carrying guilt
- You know your child isn't "bad," but you don't know what to do in the hard moments
- You don't want to control behavior. You want to feel connected to your child again
- You want a calmer home without shame, blame, or constant second-guessing
- You're ready for an approach designed for how your child's brain actually works
You're not missing effort. You're missing the right support.
Here's how we make that shift happen
Three science-backed principles, explained in plain parent language, that change how you see your child and how you show up for them.
Behavior is Communication
When your child is overwhelmed, logic and consequences won't land. This is where most parents get stuck. And it's where everything starts to shift.
- Understand what your child's behavior is really telling you
- Recognize overwhelm before it turns into a meltdown
- Know the difference between "can't" and "won't"
- Respond in ways that calm instead of escalate
So you're not stuck repeating yourself while things get worse
Building a Sensory Lifestyle
Many "behavior issues" are actually sensory overwhelm. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. And you'll finally know what to do.
- Identify your child's unique sensory needs
- Spot hidden triggers in everyday routines
- Use movement to support regulation in simple, doable ways
- Make small changes that prevent big meltdowns
So daily routines feel easier, not like constant battles
Connection, Co-Regulation, & Play
Your child learns regulation through you, but that doesn't mean being permissive. You can be connected and firm at the same time.
- Stay calm without shutting down or snapping
- Know what to say in hard moments (and what to skip)
- Hold boundaries without escalating the situation
- Make the most of connected, playful moments with your child
So you can feel confident, even in the hardest moments

Book a Free CallWhy this works when nothing else has
If you've tried charts, rewards, and consequences and nothing seems to stick, you're not alone.
Most parenting strategies focus on changing behavior from the outside. But when your child is overwhelmed, their brain can't access those skills in the moment. That's why things might work for a day, a week, and then fall apart again.
Inside Rooted & Regulated, we do things differently. Instead of trying to control behavior, we focus on understanding what's driving it. Because when you support your child's nervous system:
- Meltdowns don't escalate as quickly
- Transitions feel smoother
- Your child becomes more flexible over time
- You stop constantly guessing what to do
This isn't about doing more. It's about finally having an approach that makes sense and actually works in real life.
I'm Sam
I'm a pediatric occupational therapist and the founder of Rooted & Regulated OT. I specialize in supporting neurodivergent kids and the families who love them, because I've seen how often kids are misunderstood and parents are left feeling blamed, overwhelmed, and unsure what to do.
I've worked with hundreds of children with big emotions, sensory differences, and nervous systems that get overwhelmed easily. And what I've seen over and over again is this:
When we shift how we understand behavior, everything starts to change.
This program is my way of giving you the tools I use every day in practice, translated into real life, so they actually work in your home. Not a behavior fix. A real foundation for regulation, connection, and lasting change.

Does my child need an official diagnosis?
No. This program is for you if you're parenting a child you suspect is neurodivergent, or one who already has a diagnosis. You don't need any paperwork for this to be helpful.
What ages is this designed for?
This program is ideal for parents of kids ages 3–12. The concepts apply more broadly. If your child is slightly outside that range and you're unsure, feel free to bring it up on the call.
What if I can't make every live call?
No problem. All sessions are recorded. You can watch the replay, stay caught up with the materials, and still get a lot out of the program, even if you miss a week or two.
Is this a replacement for therapy?
No. Rooted & Regulated is a parent coaching and education program, not medical care or individual therapy. Many families use it alongside occupational therapy, while on a waitlist, or as a standalone support. You don't need to be receiving services to benefit.
Can both parents or caregivers participate?
Yes. One enrollment covers your household. Both caregivers are welcome to join the calls and access all materials.
How is this different from reading parenting books?
Books give you information. This gives you application. You bring your child's actual situations to a live call, get real-time answers, and have support that's specific to your family. The community also means you're not doing this alone.
